4-H Farm and Garden Tractor Clubs
f you have an interest in tractors or garden tractors and
want to learn some practical skills that will be beneficial well into your adult years, plan on being part of
either one of these clubs. Both clubs meet on the fairgrounds on Thursdays
during the month of March. Don’t let owning a farm tractor or a garden
tractor keep you from being part of this club. You do not have to own a
tractor to join. The first in a series of training
sessions conducted by Elkhart County 4-H Farm Tractor and Garden Tractor
Clubs will be held Thursday evening, March 1 at 7:00 p.m. in the Home &
Family Arts Building and the Eastern Star Building of the Elkhart County
Fairgrounds, Goshen. The maintenance training program will continue on three
additional Thursdays in March (March 8,
15 and 22). The 2012 program will conclude with a tractor
operator contest for members of both clubs on Saturday, May
19, 2012 at the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds.

The 4-H Tractor project is open to youth from grades 3 through 12. Emphasis is placed on understanding the safe operation and maintenance of either a lawn or garden tractor in the 4-H Garden Tractor Club or a farm tractor in the 4-H Farm Tractor Club. Experienced 4-H leaders provide training to 4-H members for both clubs.
For more information about either 4-H Tractor project, please call the Extension Office 574-533-0554 or club leaders, Troy and Emili Zahner (4-H Farm Tractor Club, 574-633-4873) or Dave Neff (4-H Garden Tractor Club 574-831-4877). Also, visit the Farm & Garden Tractor Club page.
